The next evening, he arrived at the address I sent.
He stepped out of his car smiling, adjusting his tie like he was preparing for redemption.
Then he froze.
Because it wasn’t our house.
It was a ceremony hall.
He turned slowly, scanning the building.
“What the hell is this?” he muttered.
He took a step back toward his car.
“I’m leaving.”
But I stepped in front of him.
“No,” I said calmly. “Not now. Stay and watch what happens next, Dad.”
His jaw dropped when he saw WHAT Mom was going to do.
