He Was Thrown Out By His Stepmother Then Found Money. What He Did Will Shock You
“Too hard? I am teaching him discipline. He is a clumsy boy, always making mistakes,” she shot back, her voice rising.
“That is enough,” his father said, losing patience. “He is my son, and he will be treated with respect in my house.”
The stepmother did not like hearing that. She fell silent, but a calculating look filled her eyes. She said nothing else that night, but a dangerous plan began to form in her mind.
She was not only cruel, she was greedy. She knew her husband was rich, and she wanted all of his money for herself and her own children. She saw Obie and his father as obstacles.
A few days later, Obie’s father became mysteriously ill. He grew weak and confused. His once-sharp mind seemed to wander. He stared blankly, sometimes talking to himself, unable to focus on his work or even simple conversations.
The stepmother watched with an evil smile as the man who had dared to challenge her became weaker and more helpless.
“Yes, now I have all the power,” she thought. “He dared to challenge me, but now he is like a puppet in my hands. Soon everything he owns will be mine, and no one will stop me.”
She believed she had used powerful witchcraft to silence him and make him helpless. Now she thought taking his wealth would be easy.
With Obie’s father sick, she quickly began searching for his hidden money. She searched every room, went through drawers, emptied cupboards, and even dug in the garden. She was certain the money, gold, and expensive jewelry had to be hidden somewhere.
Days turned into nights, and her search became more desperate. But no matter where she looked, she found nothing.
“Where is it?” she screamed one afternoon. “Where has that old fool hidden his money? It must be here somewhere. He can’t have spent it all. He’s too smart for that.”
She was furious. She had put in so much effort, even used witchcraft, and still found nothing.
What she did not know was that Obie’s father was no fool. He was a wise man, and he had suspected his new wife’s true intentions from the very beginning. He had seen the greed in her eyes, the way she looked at his possessions. Long before he got sick, he had secretly hidden all his money. Not one person, not even Obie, knew where it was.
And although the dark magic had affected him, his mind was not completely gone. He was clever enough to pretend to be worse than he really was, acting completely poor and helpless. He knew that if his wife believed he had no money left, she would eventually stop bothering him.
When the stepmother finally gave up the search, her anger turned into hatred. Since there was no money, she decided Obie’s father was truly poor and worthless. She began treating him just as badly as she treated Obie—ignoring his needs, speaking to him with disrespect, and leaving him to fend for himself.
Obie watched all of this with sadness. Seeing his father, once strong and full of life, mistreated by the very woman who was supposed to care for him was too much. Being denied food and witnessing his father’s suffering overwhelmed him.
One quiet evening, Obie sat alone in the courtyard, watching his stepbrother and stepsister play inside. He heard his stepmother’s harsh laughter.
Then she came outside.
