Ingredients for Beef Tetrazzini Casserole

  • 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 12 ounces egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions for Beef Tetrazzini Casserole

1. Cook the Egg Noodles

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the 12 ounces of egg noodles and cook according to the package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2. Cook the Beef

  • In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef sirloin and cook for 4-5 minutes, until browned. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

3. Sauté the Vegetables

  • In the same skillet, add the 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add the chopped onionminced garlic, and sliced mushrooms. Cook for about 5-6 minutes, until the onions are soft and the mushrooms are tender.

4. Make the Sauce

  • Sprinkle the ¼ cup all-purpose flour over the sautéed vegetables and stir to combine, cooking for about 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
  • Gradually add the 1 cup beef broth and 1 cup heavy cream, stirring constantly to create a smooth sauce. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes, until it thickens slightly.
  • Stir in the ½ cup sour cream1 cup grated Parmesan cheese, and ½ cup grated mozzarella cheese, stirring until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

5. Combine and Assemble

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the cooked egg noodles, beef, and creamy mushroom sauce. Toss everything together until evenly coated.
  • Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

6. Bake the Casserole

  • Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and golden on top.

7. Garnish and Serve

  • Once the casserole is baked, remove it from the oven and sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley for garnish.
